UNILAG Hosts In'Genius Contest for Nigerian Students

The In'Genius project, which centres on problem-solving ideas, allows competitors to provide relevant and innovative ways for alternative power supply, alternative transportation viable in Nigeria, affordable communication systems - hardware or software, inexpensive mechanisation systems for agriculture, technological systems for effective tax management in Nigeria-Hardware and Software and relevant designs for tourism attractions (monuments and virtual systems) in Nigeria.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) will host the In'Genius Project Competition from July 9 to 11, 2012, which will feature students from various tertiary schools in the country.

The competition is a baby of Nigeria's fast-rising entrepreneurs, Oreoluwa Ogundipe and Elija Olawoye.

Competitors are to enter as groups with minimum of three and maximum of six members in each group, with an (optional) supervisor; (a doctor in the group's discipline).

The prizes are second runner-up 750,000 cash prize, first runner-up N1.5 million and The Best Idea will attract N2.5 million. Other benefits are invitation for the Top Ten Finalists to attend a dinner with key government functionaries and captains of industries.

It provides a platform for young ideas' generators in developing nations to express their creativity and win great prizes. The competition would be conducted in three stages, which include the submission of power point, video and live presentations.
